Question: Available Homes I'm interested in leasing or purchasing a home at The Astoria. Does The Astoria office maintain information on available homes? Answer: No. Sales and rentals are handled by owners and/or their realtors. Rentals or sales are sometimes listed by owners in the Real Estate Listings section of The Astoria Classifieds. Local realtors can provide listings of all available homes.
Question: Moving In What are permitted days and hours for moves into or out of the building? How do I reserve a time? Is there a required deposit? Answer: Move-in requirements are available in the Resource Center, in the New Resident Information folder. Please review that folder for other information you will find useful.
Question: Furniture/Appliance Delivery If I am expecting a furniture/appliance delivery, do I need to notify the management office? When are such deliveries permitted? Answer: The management office must be notified. Deliveries generally follow the same rules as Move-ins, but the Management office can guide you based on the specifics of your delivery.
Question: Package Delivery Is there someone available during the day to sign for my deliveries? Answer: No. Although UPS, FedEx, and the USPS will usually leave packages at your unit door on the first delivery attempt unless a signature is required. In cases where a signature is required, leaving a signed release note on the door will usually suffice.
Question: Admitting Others to your Home in Your Absence How do I arrange for a contractor or others to enter my home if I’m not there? Answer: If you have left a convenience key (in addition to the emergency entry key) with the management office, you can fill out an admit slip (available in the desk drawer in the library or here) and providing it to the management office.
Question: Clubhouse/Library Reservations How do I reserve the clubhouse or library? What hours are they available? Is a deposit required? Answer: The clubhouse and library can be reserved by following those links, or by filling out a request form (available in the desk drawer in the library) and submitting the form to the management office. The rooms can be reserved for any day of the week. A $200 deposit is required. There also are limits on how often these rooms can be reserved.
Question: Car Washing Where and when is car washing permitted? Answer: Car washing is permitted at the Loading Dock on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Holidays between April 1 and October 31. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the permissible hours are between 10 am and 7 pm. On Saturdays and Holidays, permissible hours are from 10 am to 6:30 pm. Only 1 car can be washed at a time, and cars can only be washed when temperatures are above freezing and no scheduled move-ins are taking place. There is a sign-up sheet on the desk in the library, and times with scheduled move-ins are blocked off. Also, please be considerate of those in units overlooking the loading dock area by keeping noise to a minimum.
Question: Tennis Court Reservations What hours is tennis court use permitted? What is the code for the combination lock on the gate? Answer: The tennis court is available for use from 7 am to sunset. The combination to the lock on the gate is available from the management office. There is a sign-up sheet on the desk in the library and here.
Question: Pool Dates and Hours When is the swimming pool available for use? Answer: The pool is open daily from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, and for the two weekends following Labor Day. Hours are from Noon to 9 pm, Monday -Friday and 10 am – 8 pm, Saturday, Sunday and Holidays. Pool passes for residents are available from the management offices in the Spring. Residents can bring two guests to the pool at any time at no charge; pool passes for additional guests must be purchased from the management office in advance.
Question: Grill Use Is it necessary to reserve the grill outside the clubhouse? Answer: No, It is available of a first come, first served basis.
Question: Window Repairs Am I responsible for repairs to my windows? Answer: No. They are considered part of the common elements. Contact the office if you are having problems. The most common problem is the balancers, which cause the windows to be difficult to open and close.
Question: Common Maintenance parts Where can I obtain replacement furnace filters, toilet flappers, and chemical fan filters? Answer: From the management office. Furnace filters are free (2 per request), while flappers can be purchased for $2 and fan filters can be purchased for $4.
Question: Management Aides What hours are the Management Aides on duty? What phone number do I dial to reach the Aide on duty? Answer: The Aides are generally on duty any time the Management Office is closed. The Aides can be reached on their mobile phone: (703) 887-4239.
Question: Lock Out Service Is lock-out service available? Answer: Lockout service may be available for residents when the office is open. You must have submitted a convenience key to management and must be able to verify that you are the resident of the unit. Outside of regular office hours, this service is only available to residents who have signed an agreement, and then only according to the terms of that agreement. We urge every unit owner to leave a key with a neighbor for this eventuality. If all else fails, call Arlington Lock at (703) 534-4440 or any other locksmith.

Question: TV Options What are my options for television reception? Answer: Comcast Cable (call 1-800-COMCAST to arrange service), DirecTV through MDU Communications (call (866) 286-9638 to arrange service), or the community master antenna on the roof (call MDU (866) 286-9638 if there are problems). Question: Personal Grills Can I use a grill on my patio/balcony? Answer: Yes, if it’s electric. Gas and charcoal are not permitted as per Astoria rules and Arlington County fire code.
Question: Insurance Certificate Who do I contact to obtain a Certificte of Insurance for The Astoria’s master insurance policy? Answer: Contact information is in the Resource Center in the Insurance folder.
Question: Garage Doors Why do the garage doors stay open during morning and afternoon rush hours? Answer: To minimize the maintenance costs. Keeping the doors open during their busiest periods of the day lessens the need for repairs on the doors.
